Hi, my name is Marissa Gould. This year I will teach 6th, 7th, & 8th grade math and 6th & 8th grade science.  This will be my ninth year teaching and I am looking forward to another great year at WISD.

I graduated from Texas Tech University in May 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Multidisciplinary Studies.  I currently hold teaching certifications in the following areas:

  • Math/Science 4th-8th
  • Generalist EC - 6

An old adage states: "Tell me and I forget, show me and I remember, involve me and I understand."  The last part of that statement is the essence of inquiry based learning. Inquiry is defined as a seeking for truth, information, or knowledge - seeking information by questioning.  Our goal is to have an inquiry based math class. This year we are turning our Jr. High math classes into classes that not only teach us mathematics, but teach us how mathematics applies to our life.  We will do a lot of hands on, real world applications of the math we are learning; that will help us understand how important math is outside of the school building and how it relates to our everyday lives.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
